What is Invisalign

Invisalign is the latest development in orthodontic treatment and is available in our River Road Dental office which is conveniently located on River Road in Edgewater, NJ. 3D computer technology is used to fabricate custom made clear trays called aligners that are used to straighten your smile. The removable aligners are replaced every two weeks with a new set to shift your teeth to achieve the optimal results. Brushing and flossing as well as visits to the hygienist are much easier and quicker with the removable aligners. Invisalign is also much more comfortable then traditional braces because no metal wires are required.

Your Invisalign appointment

Dr. Dounski will perform an orthodontic consultation to gather information about your case. Impressions, digital photos and x rays will be taken and sent to Invisalign for evaluation and treatment presentation. After the evaluation a 3D model of your “before and after” smile will be presented to you on our computer along with the length of treatment. Since every smile is unique, length and treatment vary with every patient. After the case acceptance the customized aligners will be fabricated and you will be on your way to a straighter and healthier smile.

Q. How long is the Invisalign treatment?

A. Each Invisalign treatment varies depending on the patient case. Cases that require minor restoration can take as little as six months while extensive treatment can last more then a year and require further refinement. The length of the case is determined by Invisalign and can not be altered by the doctor.

Q. Will the aligners be visible?

A. The aligners are clear which makes them virtually undetectable to others. You will be able to smile more throughout your treatment.

Q. Are the aligners uncomfortable?

A. The aligners are made out of smooth, plastic like material that mimics the contour of your teeth. There are no sharp metal edges like with traditional braces.
